Otis the Cat

This is our new kitty.  His name is Otis Baguera Lodes (Baguera after the black panther in the Jungle Book).  He used to live on the streets for all we know.  He started hanging around our house and our neighbor started feeding him.  Tedd & I have always wanted a pet, but it was never feasible because of how often we travel.  So when our neighbor introduced us to Otis, we too started to feed him here and there, let him sleep with us every now and then, and let him stay inside when it’s cold out.  All the while, he’s independent enough to hold his own when we’re away (plus the neighbors keep an eye out for him).  The rest is history…
I mean, look at this cuddly ball of fluff…how could you resist?  Seriously folks, we’re not even cat people, but this little kitty ball melts our hearts.

It’s funny how much we love Otis.  It makes us think often about how we are in our relationship with God.  We took this cat off the streets and he snuggles up with us night after night while the temps outside are below freezing, yet does he thank us?  Nope.  He’s such a cat, the little snob; he purrs and cuddles to get what he wants, but once he’s satisfied, one wrong move and he goes to bat with those wolverine cat claws of his.  That or he wriggles out of your loving arms to go clean himself in some isolated corner.  Sigh.
He’s so happy to see us when we come home at night because he’s cold and hungry, but after he’s warm and full, he quickly forgets our provision and turns on us.  Yet, somehow we still love him…
